Nuvo - Autumn '03 How To Adapt Your Fall Wardrobe to the Spring Trends
- LouLou Magazine (Spring '06)
written by Linda Gaylard

The list of best-dressed stars would be much shorter is not for stylists like Linda Gaylard. After 18 years of dressing Canada's best and brightest, Linda has a few trendy tricks up her sleeve.

All fabrics a go. Don't wait for the snow to melt to pull out your chiffon blouses and silky skirts. Mix and match them with your tweed pants or velvet jacket.

Prints charming. Cherry-blossom prints looked delicious on the runways, so try pairing a soft, floral top with grey flannel slacks. Also, try using spring's black-and-white prints to energize a dark, winter suit.

Feel free to flounce. The easiest way to put a little spring in your wardrobe is to slip into a ruffled blouse, skirt or dress. Flounces are now everywhere - on hems, cuffs, necklines...

Long live the empire waist. Get this romantic look by pairing an empire waisted top with skinny jeans.

Skirt the issue. Circle skirts are still in vogue. Freshen your fall look with a nautically inspired double-breasted jacket. If you prefer your skirts a little more streamlined, wear one of spring's figure-hugging designs with a boxy '60s jacket.

Short stories. Your favourite cuffed houndstooth culottes will now look as cute paired with kittin heels and a nude leg.

"It's very difficult for a new fashion designer to get his or her unknown brand into the market, the media and onto celebrities. But with Linda's help and support, many TFI designers have made that leap. Thank you Linda, for being a wonderful enthusiast of new fashion talent and for your tremendous support of TFI."
